The 2012 running of the Scouts Rally of South Australia, Round 4 of the Bosch Australian Rally Championship and Round 4 of the South Australian Rally Championship, gets under way tomorrow (Friday). To mark the start of the event, all 55 cars enjoyed a 6pm police escort and a sea of green lights the whole way down King William Street as they crossed the city in convoy from the Torrens Parade Ground to the service park in the city parklands.
Whoever at Rally SA had the idea to parade a full field of snarling, barking rally cars through the middle of the CBD at peak hour deserves a gold star – it was a great publicity stunt and one of the coolest things I’ve seen in a long time.
Sure, we got soaked to the bone and I didn’t realise that I was shooting in the middle of the road in front of a bus stop until I looked up to see a waiting bus sitting about two metres from my face and an angry looking bus driver flashing his lights, but that’s all part of the fun.
So make sure you get out there and have a look, even just for a stage or two. Entry lists, an excellent spectator guide and all the information you need can be found on the Rally SA website.#2012 ROSA #Adelaide #Gravel Rally #King William Street #rain #rally #Rally parade #ROSA #Scouts Rally SA
